EBT card holders warned about rise in card-cloning fraud and theft

Missourians who have E-B-T cards for their food stamp benefits are being warned about a sharp rise in the theft of those cards. 

The Missouri Department of Social Services says thieves are stealing the card information by copying the personal details with an electronic device or through websites that pretend to be legitimate.
The Department says most incidents of theft are happening to Missouri E-B-T cardholders while traveling out of state. 

Cardholders are being strongly advised to download the EBT-Edge app on their mobile devices, which can be used to block out-of-state transactions, temporarily freeze E-B-T benefits, and change passwords. 

The department’s EBT-Edge app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
