No burn permits for local communities until rainfall occurs
The Joplin Fire Department and other area agencies from Webb City, Carl Junction, Oronogo, and Carterville remind citizens that due to the dry weather conditions throughout the area, outdoor burning is extremely dangerous.
Area fire departments are seeing fires quickly grow out of control and threaten residences and property. Residents are urged to call 911 when a fire is discovered so the appropriate fire department can respond quickly and extinguish the fire.
Due to these extreme conditions, the Joplin Fire Department and Webb City Fire Department will no longer issue burn permits until substantial rainfall occurs.
Joplin Assistant Fire Chief Andy Nimmo says people need to be extremely cautious.
