MoDOT lacks hundreds of snowplow drivers

Missouri needs more snowplow drivers. 

Darin Hamelink with the Missouri Department of Transportation says they’re several hundred employees short of having enough drivers to fill two 12-hour shifts. 

He tells prospective employees what to do if interested:

“Yes, we’re accepting applications now, so you just go out to our website, it’s modot.org, and look for career opportunities there on that page.”

There are openings for snowplow drivers all across Missouri. 

Supplies are not a problem, though. Hamelink says they have plenty of salt, brine, and beat juice to treat the roads – just not enough workers to spread them and remove the snow.
