Remains of Missouri soldier killed during Korean War to return home
The remains of a Korean War soldier from Macks Creek, near the Lake of the Ozarks, will be sent home for burial.
Army Corporal Jerry Wilson was 19 years old when he went missing in action on July 25th, 1950, while defending the South Korean city of Yongdong.
His remains were found but not identified and then buried at a military cemetery in Hawaii. His remains were removed from the ground in 2018 and positively identified in 2019, in part by dental records and DNA samples.
Wilson was initially set to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, but instead his remains will arrive from Hawaii on Friday.
His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15th, and he will be buried at a cemetery in Macks Creek.
