Congressman Burlison on giving more power to the states over the federal budget

Missouri voters passed the Hancock amendment to force balanced budgets.  

Southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison told Newstalk KZRG, he is for the states having more power over a federal budget:  

“If we’re at war. For example, we need to go into debt. Then the Congress would then submit to the states a resolution and the states, you know, if 51% of the states pass that, then you can exceed the debt limit, but basically every year, when we get up to the debt limit, Congress will be passing it on their own. This would cause the states to have more power, be able to exert more control back on the federal government.”
