Motorcycle accident causes serious injuries to Taney County man

An accident at Highway 71 and Meadowlark Lane in Jane caused serious injuries to a man from Protem in Taney County around 1:40 Friday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred when the rider, 71-year-old Gerald P. Beckermand, lost control of his northbound 2003 Harley Davidson, then went off the roadway into a ditch.

Beckermand was Lifeflighted to Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He was not wearing a safety device.
