Qualified homeowners can get help from the city and Economic Security Corporation with JHRP-2
The City of Joplin and the Economic Security Corporation have partnered to help single family homeowners rehabilitate and preserve existing affordable housing.
The program is called JHRP-2.
Johan Bullington, with the City of Joplin, tells Newstalk KZRG:
“The city was very fortunate to receive a grant that we were able to revitalize a program that we started back after the disaster in the tornado era. This grant is providing $25,000 per home for repairs to roofs, siding and windows. Just a way to help clean up the neighborhoods and give an incentive to help the homeowners out.”
According to Ryan Peterson of the Economic Security Corporation:
“We are administering the program for the city, so we are taking the applications from the homeowners, qualifying contractors and actually completing the work. We would identify the needs of the home, the repairs that need to be made, and then we administer that and pay the contractors directly.”
