One-vehicle accident in Lawrence County injures driver from Joplin

A one-vehicle accident on Missouri 37, three miles west of Pierce City in Lawrence County Thursday afternoon injured a woman from Joplin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a southbound 2000 Ford Contour driven by 18-year-old Jolie K. Powell of Joplin went off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned, ejecting her from the vehicle.

Powell , who was wearing a safety device, was seriously injured.

She was taken by EMS to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
