USPS plans new move that could slow down rural mail

Rural Missourians may have to wait longer for their mail to be delivered under a proposal being considered in Washington DC.

The US Postal Service is set to discuss plans to improve mail processing and transportation in hopes of improving delivery times.

It would specifically speed up mail delivery for those who live within 50 miles of the Postal Service’s largest processing centers.

But that could mean mail delivery for some rural areas might take up to an additional 24 hours.

The postal service says the proposal is designed to save billions of dollars.
