Galena man arrested for injuring officers during standoff
A man from Galena, Kansas, was arrested for allegedly injuring two officers Wednesday afternoon.
It started as a wellness check at a home near 11th and Main in the 4 pm hour.
It ended up being a two-hour standoff with numerous officers, Cherokee County Sheriff deputies, and agents from the KBI.
During the standoff, an officer was reportedly cut by the suspect with a piece of glass.
They then used gas and protective gear to enter the home and take the suspect into custody.
49-year-old Jeffrey Allen Johnson is now charged with two counts of aggravated battery of law enforcement; great bodily harm and resisting arrest.
More charges could be filed.
The injuries to the officers are being considered non-life-threatening.
