Joplin Police are investigating two early Sunday morning shootings. Read the full press release below:
On August 18th, 2024, at 02:03 a.m., the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of a disturbance with a weapon at 830 S. Grand Avenue.
It was reported there was a large gathering of people at this address when multiple gunshots were heard, and an adult male had been shot.
Officers responded and upon arrival immediately began rendering aid to the victim. EMS personnel from Joplin Fire and METS responded to the scene and the victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment. He is considered to be in critical condition. The suspect had fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
At 02:36 a.m., the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received another 911 report of gunshots at 811 S. Massachusetts Avenue. An adult male was found at this location with gunshot injuries.
Officers responded and after giving aid, the victim was transported to a Joplin hospital for further treatment. He is in stable condition and his injuries are not considered to be life threatening. It was determined this victim had been shot at 830 S. Grand Avenue and had drove to this location before contacting 911.
Detectives with the Joplin Police Department responded and are actively conducting an investigation.
At this time no arrest has been made.
