Bentonville motorcycle rider injured in I-49 crash Saturday evening

A motorcycle rider was seriously injured in a crash with a passenger car Saturday around 5 p.m. on I-49, about 7 miles south of Lamar.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a northbound Honda motorcycle operated by 34-year-old Ryan T. Mitchell of Bentonville, Ark. crossed the centerline and hit a northbound Buick Enclave driven by 54-year-old David Loomis of Kansas City, Mo. while Loomis was passing.

The motorcycle overturned and Mitchell was ejected.

Both Loomis and Mitchell were wearing safety devices.

Mitchell was seriously injured.

He was airlifted to Freeman Hospital in Joplin.

Loomis was not injured.
