Friday afternoon accident injures driver from Mt. Vernon

There were moderate injuries for a Lawrence County resident who was involved in an accident around 4:30 Friday afternoon on Route O, about eight miles east of Mt. Vernon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 69-year-old Knowles L. McGeeHee of Mt. Vernon traveled off the roadway, overcorrected and struck an embankment in a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac that had significant damage.

McGeeHee was not wearing a safety device.

He was taken to Cox Hospital in Monett for treatment.
