Carl Junction teen hit, injured by semi while crossing dangerous intersection

A 14-year-old girl from Carl Junction suffered “moderate” injuries after she was hit by the trailer of a semi truck late Thursday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened at the dangerous intersection of Highway YY, Ivy Road and County Road 290.

The girl was trying to cross Highway YY, about a half-mile north of the high school, when the vehicle clipped her.

She was alert and speaking with first responders before being taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the truck stopped and cooperated with authorities.
