Driver attempts to go over impassable bridge; three injured, one seriously
Three people injured, one seriously, Saturday morning in Barton County after they tried to go over an impassable wooden bridge on NW 60th Lane, 15 miles north of Lamar.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Robert D. Kirby of Quitman Woods, Texas tried to cross the bridge on a 2019 CAM-AM Defender.
The vehicle went off the road and overturned.
Robert Kirby was not injured.
One of his three passengers, 48-year-old John Kirby of Sheldon was seriously injured. He was Med-Flighted to Freeman Hospital in Joplin.
Two other passengers, 44-year-old Maryellen V. Kirby of Sheldon and 48-year-old Danielle D. Kirby of Quitman Wood, Texas, had minor injuries.
They were taken to Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar.
