SEK man arrested for alleged assault on woman gardening in her yard

A man from southeast Kansas is facing charges after he allegedly tried to sexually assault a woman who was gardening in her yard.

Just before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, Cherokee County Deputies were summoned to a Weir residence where they 60 year-old Francisco Torres, of Weir.

The elderly victim told deputies that Torres approached her while she was outside her home and tried to sexually assault her.

Torres is being held in the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of Criminal Restraint, Assault and Sexual Battery.
