Governor signs bill to give state auditor more authority and transparency
Governor Mike Parson has signed into law legislation that gives the Missouri State Auditor more authority and transparency.
Holts Summit Republican Travis Fitzwater handled the bill in the senate.
He says that this bill holds the government accountable…
Fitzwater told Newstalk KZRG: “One protects whistleblowers, and it also gives the auditor authority over investigations to investigate more fraud, waste and abuse in our state government and municipalities and any political entity in the state of Missouri. That just made a lot of sense.”
The bill defines ‘improper governmental activity’ as misconduct, fraud, mismanagement, and waste of resources, or a violation of State or Federal law. The law will take effect on August 28.
