Could Hurricane Beryl affect Missouri’s weather?
The Category 5 cyclone is currently moving westward across the Caribbean Sea towards Jamaica and Mexico, but the remnants could eventually move north and bring heavy rain to the United States.
Zach Leasor is State Climatologist for Missouri.
He says right now the chances of Missouri seeing any rainfall from Hurricane Beryl are pretty low, but:
“Now that’s not to say the forecast couldn’t change. I think that we’re probably looks like about five to seven days from a landfall, kind of, on the United States, and it is looking like most of the forecast is taking it on a far southern track.”
Leasor says historically speaking, hurricanes that make landfall in Louisiana are more likely to drench Missouri with heavy rain.
