Oklahoma man arrested after SEK church burglary
A man from Oklahoma was arrested after a thwarted burglary in southeast Kansas.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported burglary in progress at a church near Melrose Wednesday afternoon.
Upon their arrival, deputies encountered 52-year-old Aaron Cole, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, who allegedly entered through a broken window.
During their investigation, Cole was reportedly found to have methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Cole was transported to the Cherokee County Jail where he is being held on allegations of burglary, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“The arrest of this suspected thief is a great example of the partnership between our agency and the community. Thanks to a vigilant resident who reported suspicious activity, and one of our deputies patrolling the nearby county roads, the suspect was able to be taken into custody within minutes of our office being contacted,” according to Chief Deputy Nate Jones.
