Neosho Arts Council free workshop exhibit

A special free workshop exhibit is coming up this Thursday in the community room at the Neosho Newton County Library starting at 5:30 PM.

Sarah Serio, President of the Neosho Arts Council tells Newstalk KZRG:

“No art experience is needed to join this make and take event,” Serio said.  “But this will be a great opportunity to area artists also.”

Michael Albert will present a short talk on his work as a pop artist and then lead attendees in creating their own work on art they can take with them. Plus everyone will receive a free signed art poster from Albert.

Pop art is a style that is based on modern popular culture and the mass media and was made famous by artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Albert uses product packaging, like Frosted Flakes boxes, to create his collages.

“He’ll take the recognizable fonts and images and then create a piece of art. Sometimes that’s just a design and others times it is phrase, parts of historic speeches or even the lyrics to famous songs,” Serio said.
