Joplin Elks Lodge #501 to celebrate 125 years
Joplin, Mo. — Joplin Elks Lodge #501 was instituted on May 15, 1899 and since that day has been committed to serving the needs of Joplin and the surrounding areas.
To commemorate the 125th Anniversary as an Elks Lodge we will be having an anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 18th from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. This event will take place at the
Elks Lodge located at 1802 W. 26th Street. The public is invited to join us for a fun-filled afternoon.
The afternoon will consist of a car show, children’s activities, safety vehicles, live music and so much more. Car enthusiasts who want to be a part of the show can register that day from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. As one of the oldest charities in Joplin, this is one more way for us to give back to the community by providing an afternoon of family fun.
“Our mission is to give back to our community and that is what we want to do in celebration of our 125th Anniversary,” said Nancy Bettasso, 125th Anniversary Committee Chairperson. “Rather than keeping our celebration to ourselves, we are extending it to the community. We want everyone to join us on May 18th not only for the activities, but to learn more about the Elks and what we do.”
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a fraternal organization. The Joplin Lodge has been a part of the community since 1899. Our mission is to inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America will serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.
