Via Christi Hospital Pittsburg has been awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Via Christi Hospital Pittsburg has been awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2024. The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization, evaluates hospitals across the United States on over 30 performance metrics related to medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the efficacy of their preventive measures. This prestigious grade highlights Via Christi Hospital Pittsburg’s commitment to patient safety.

This is the second consecutive “A” grade for Via Christi Hospital Pittsburg (Fall 2023, spring 2024).
Other Via Christi hospitals across Kansas also earned the national award. Via Christi St. Francis, in Wichita, has now received three consecutive “A” grades (Spring 2023, fall 2023, spring 2024). Via Christi
St. Joseph, in Wichita, has earned two consecutive “A” grades (Fall 2023, spring 2024). Via Christi Hospital Manhattan earned its sixth “A” grade in the last three and a half years (Spring 2021, fall 2021, spring 2022, spring 2023, fall 2023, spring 2024).
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program that focuses exclusively on hospital safety. It specifically targets preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that contribute to
more than 500 patient deaths each day nationwide. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and freely available to the public. Grades are updated biannually, reflecting the continuous efforts of healthcare facilities to improve patient safety.
