Driver from Joplin injured in accident south of Redings Mill

An accident around 8:45 Friday night on Highway 86, just south of Redings Mill in Newton County, resulted in injuries to a driver from Joplin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a southbound vehicle driven by 51-year-old Christopher S. Brewer of Joplin failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, slamming into two utility poles.

Brewer suffered serious injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to Mercy-Joplin Hospital.
