Final Message From Sheriff Groves –
After 25 years of proudly serving the citizens of Cherokee County – with the past 15 with the honor of serving as your Sheriff – today I am announcing my departure from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
It has been the privilege of my lifetime to not only lead an amazing group of dedicated public servants, but also work daily on behalf of my neighbors, friends, family, and community.
I am proud of the work our team has done on behalf of our county and the progress we as an agency have made during my four terms in office.
The life-long friendships I’ve made and experiences I’ve been able to have as a result of my time as Sheriff, will be treasured forever.
However, over the past couple of months, various professional opportunities outside of law enforcement have presented themselves and as a result I will leave my position once the Governor appoints my replacement.
I’ve said it many times and it still holds true, there is nothing better than serving a community who actively and unashamedly supports their local law enforcement and the support from this community means more to me than I can adequately express.
I want to genuinely thank all you for the privilege you’ve granted me during my law enforcement career. The citizens of this county, and our law enforcement, will remain in my prayers.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and God Bless,
Sheriff David Groves
