Jackson County Assessment office set for ‘soft’ reopening next week
Jackson County’s Assessment office is set for a “soft” reopen next Tuesday after being crippled last week by a ransomware attack.
The attack shut down the county’s Assessor, Collection, and Recorder of Deeds offices, which handle documents needed to file income tax returns, real estate transactions, marriage licenses, and divorce decrees.
According to a Kansas City TV Station, Jackson County residents in immediate need of marriage licenses have been traveling to neighboring counties in the Kansas City area to get them, which state law allows.
