Eclipse activities at George Washington Carver National Monument

DIAMOND – You are invited to George Washington Carver National Monument to view the partial solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., park rangers and volunteers will share fun and educational activities.

Learn about the science of an eclipse with hands-on activities, such as sundials and pinhole projectors. Junior Ranger Eclipse Explorer booklets and badges will be available. To safely view an eclipse your eyes must always be protected with solar eclipse glasses, which will be available, while supplies last. This program is free of charge.

Become a citizen scientist by downloading NASA’s Globe Observer app. For more information go to Eclipse Overview – GLOBE Observer – Bring a lawn chair or blanket, sunscreen, water, a snack, and be prepared to enjoy the eclipse from the front lawn. In case of inclement weather, this program will be canceled.

Administered by the National Park Service, George Washington Carver National Monument preserves the birthplace and childhood home of George Washington Carver – scientist, educator, and humanitarian.

The park is located two miles west of Diamond, Missouri on Highway V, then ¼ mile south on Carver Road.
