Investigation begins after young boy suffers severe injuries from dog bite in Monett
A 7-year-old boy from Aurora was severely wounded after being bit by a dog in Monett, Missouri, Wednesday evening.
The Monett Police Department says it occurred on private property within the city limits at approximately 7:30 p.m..
The animal involved in the incident is described as a mixed-breed dog and is currently being held by Monett Animal Control.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the child who suffered injuries in the incident was a guest at the residence where the dog resides when the incident occurred.
The young boy was transported to Kansas City for treatment of his injuries.
The animal involved in this case was also the subject of a bite incident in October of last year. The dog’s owner was cited for Vicious Animal as a result of that investigation. That case is pending in May in Monett Municipal Court.
