Mt. Vernon man killed in crash on Highway 96

A man from Mount Vernon, Missouri, has died after his pickup truck rammed into the back of a milk tanker in Jasper County Wednesday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says at 7:30am, 69-year-old Robert W. Rathmann was traveling west on Highway 96 when he rear-ended a tanker that was slowing to make a turn.

Rathmann was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tanker suffered minor injuries.
