Man arrested after Joplin nail salon armed robbery
A man from Joplin arrested after he allegedly robbed a nail salon on Friday. Read the full press release below:
On Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at approximately 6:52 pm the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of an armed robbery at Nails on 20th, 407 E. 20th Street in Joplin.
The caller reported a male suspect came in the store wearing a mask, presented a handgun, and demanded money from the business. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the store on foot. Officers responded to the scene and searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect. No one was physically injured during this incident.
Through further investigation and analysis of surveillance video, a Joplin PD Detective was able to positively identify the suspect as Jeffrey T. Dampier, age 53, of Joplin.
On Saturday, March 23rd, officers and investigators were able to take Dampier into custody without incident at his address at 1916 S. Grand Avenue.
Charges for Robbery in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action were forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and his bond was set at $250,000. He is currently in custody at the Jasper County Jail.
