Baxter Springs Citizens Police Academy set to begin May 23rd

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at the Baxter Springs Police Department?

Sign up for their 6 week Citizens Police Academy to help you learn just that!

Classes will be held on Thursdays 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. starting May 23 and ending on June 27.

This program targets people who want to learn more about the Baxter Springs Police Department.

The program is offered free of charge, and this hands-on, interactive, behind-the-scenes program is taught by experienced police officers, who share their unique perspective on law enforcement.

The concept of the Citizens Police Academy involves opening the Baxter Springs Police Department to the public, and showing citizens exactly what officers do and how they do it.

As a result, graduates of the Citizens Police Academy are better equipped to assess safety issues and share with others their knowledge of law enforcement practices and policies.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining, applications are available at the Baxter Springs Police Department 1011 Military Ave.

Come in to the Police Department from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. or call for an officer before or after those hours at 620-856-2112.
