Family of teen critically injured in fight speaks out

The family of a teenage girl critically injured in an after-school fight in St. Louis County is speaking about her condition. 

16-year-old Kaylee Gain is still unconscious more than a week after suffering a fractured skull and brain bleeding during a fight with an unidentified 15-year-old girl. 

Smartphone video shows the suspect pinning Kaylee to the ground and repeatedly slamming her head against the street. 

Gain’s family has released a statement, saying the full extent of her injuries and chances for recovery won’t be known until, “with God’s grace,” she regains consciousness. 

The suspect is in juvenile custody, but some government officials and members of the public are demanding she be tried as an adult.
