Parsons Police dealing with “revolving door” in the justice system
On Saturday, March 16 Parsons, Kansas Police Officers were dispatch to the lobby of the police department for a domestic fight that had just recently occurred. When the officer arrived to speak to the victim, they were told that the incident took place in Parsons.
Officers were told by the victim that Sir Christuffer Roeder, who was bonded out of Labette County Jail March 15th, had physically battered the victim.
It was explained to the officer that Roeder had accused the victim of cheating and then there was an argument, and the victim was battered and then Roeder threatened to kill the victim and then physically took the victim’s phone and drug them around outside. After taking the phone Roeder grabbed a knife and there was a struggle for control. The victim was able to get away and flee the area. After the interview the victim left the police department and a short time later officers were called to the 200 block of N 14th for a verbal altercation between the victim and Roeder.
When officers arrived, they were told that Roeder fled the area when he heard the sirens. After a search of the area for Roeder the officers were unable to find Roeder. At approximately 7:30 pm Roeder was found at a residence in the 2300 block of Clark and taken into custody.
Roeder was transported to the Parsons Police Lockup. Police have requested the following
charges in reference to this latest arrest, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Threat, Robbery, and Domestic Battery.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, “this is yet again a very unfortunate situation. This man was arrested and charged in connection with a heinous crime just a week before, and in less time than the investigation took for that crime, he was able to bond out on a low enough bail and commit another handful of felony acts.
This is part of a much larger problem in Labette County and Parsons. We have a revolving door in the justice system that will take input from the community and its citizens to court system to fix.”
