Fiber internet project out for bid for Joplin

The city of Joplin has asked for bids to put in a fiber internet system citywide.  

About four million dollars to put in by Joplin and so far a company from Nebraska has said they would invest forty million dollars into the project.  

Joplin Mayor Doug Lawson told Newstalk KZRG:   โ€œIt will provide better access to more parts of Joplin that will be good for businesses and our citizens.โ€

The new fiber network would be put underground to be more reliable incase of storm events.
