PSU women turn focus to National Tournament
After earning its first MIAA Conference tournament title, the Pittsburg State women’s basketball team turns its attention to the NCAA Division II National Tournament this weekend.
The Gorillas are the fourth seed in the Central Regional and take on Harding at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Pittsburg State head coach Amanda Davied (David) told KZRG she wants to see her team continue to do what got them to this point.
“For us, it was really cool for us to be a part of that in cutting down the nets,” Davied said about winning the MIAA Conference Tournament. “You just don’t want to be satisfied with cutting down any nets unless it’s at the national tournament. We are excited to be moving forward, and I think it will come down to defense, making shots and boxing out.”
Making their seventh trip to the NCAA Division II in the last 11 seasons, third under Coach Davied, Pittsburg State is the fourth seed and will take on No. 5 Harding in the regional quarterfinals on Friday.
