Four Corrections officers fired after inmate death at JCCC
Four Missouri Corrections officers have been fired following the death of an inmate last December at a maximum-security prison in Jefferson City.
38-year-old Othel Moore, Junior died December 8th.
Family members say he died after excessive force was used to move him to another cell and that he was restrained with full body wrap, a hood placed over his head, and was left unattended while suffering a medical emergency.
A statement from the Department of Corrections says the four unnamed employees were “terminated” following an internal investigation, but also says an autopsy has not been completed and that Moore’s official cause of death remains undetermined.
A criminal investigation is being conducted by the Cole County Sheriff’s office.
