Body found in Lamar landfill identified as Springfield man

A body found in a landfill in Lamar, Missouri, has been identified as that of a man from Springfield.

The body of 47-year-old Manuel Gomez was found in the Prairie View Regional Waste Landfill Friday afternoon.

Authorities believe the body came in on one of the trash trucks.

Gomez's cause of death is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
