Pitch to legalize sports betting could be back on the table this week

The fight to legalize sports betting could be in full swing this week. 

The Missouri House of Representatives is scheduled to debate Warrensburg Republican Dan Houx’s bill that would legalize sports gambling. 

The House could pass the proposal but it is expected to have a steep hill to climb in the Senate, mainly due to fellow Warrensburg Republican Senator Denny Hoskins. 

He has blocked similar bills in recent years because he says he wants to also regulate video lottery machines often found in bars, restaurants, and gas stations.
