Plenty of jobs available in the state of Missouri
If you are looking for a job, Missouri has plenty to offer, according to reports.
- Missouri is the state with the fifth-highest number of active job listings, at 923 per 100,000 of the state population
- Healthcare has topped the list as the industry with the most advertised roles in 24 states as of January 2024 – with over 335,000 active job listings
- Similarly, community and human services are seeking the most workers in a further 22 states – naming it the second most in-demand industry right now
- The study analyzed job listings which have been posted to the online job board, Indeed, over the last 14 days
A new study of active job listings in America has found that North Dakota has the highest number of advertised roles compared to all other states, with community and human services being the state’s most in-demand industry.
The study by the leading law firm Schmidt & Clark analyzed over 2.3 million job listings posted to Indeed over the last 14 days, to find which industries are most in demand in every US state right now. The study also found which states have the most active job listings when scaled per 100,000 of the state’s population.
The results found that the number one industry seeking the most workers in 2024 is the healthcare industry – as per Indeed’s industry categories for listings.
Healthcare was found to be the industry with the highest number of listings compared to any other workforce in a huge 24 states – including California, Tennessee, and Texas. The industry also topped the national list as the most in-demand workforce, with over 335,000 active listings across the US.
The majority of states are looking to boost their healthcare workforce with roles such as medical assistants, nurse practitioners, and pharmacy technicians, which are only some of the vacancies which employers are hoping to fill.
The study found that the second most in-demand industry in America is community and human services. This industry includes roles such as caseworkers, in-home caregivers, and community health workers.
Community and human services is the most sought-after workforce in 22 states right now – topping the list in Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and more. The study identified over 333,000 active listings in this field on Indeed.
Interestingly, the third most in-demand industry is sales, retail and customer support, with over 210,000 active listings across the nation, but it did not take the top spot in any of the 50 states.
The fourth most in-demand industry nationwide right now is transportation. The roles which are currently on offer include bus drivers, parking attendants, and route drivers, to name just a few.
The study found that there are over 206,000 listings relating to the transportation industry across the country – with demand for these workers beating all other industries in Mississippi and Wyoming.
Rounding out the top five most in-demand industries in America for 2024 so far is the repair, maintenance, and installation industry. This sector is seeking over 173,000 roles to be filled right now.
