Mt. Vernon police officer enters Alford plea; all but one charge dismissed
A Mount Vernon police officer entered an Alford plea last week in response to charges against him.
Station KY3 reports that 35-year-old Allen Campbell had faced charges of first-degree rape or attempted rape, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree stalking, and second-degree harassment.
Following the plea, the prosecutor in the case reportedly dismissed all the charges except for harassment.
An Alford plea means the person charged does does not admit guilt but admits the state has enough evidence against him.
Campbell was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation.
The case resulted from an incident last November 18th.
