Pierce City Fire Protection District reports theft of “Jaws of Life,” other equipment

The Pierce City Fire Protection District reported a theft late last week.

On Friday, February 2, it was discovered that the fire station at 10040 Wallaby Road, was broken into and robbed of $3,000 dollars worth of tools and equipment.

Items discovered missing include an 8-drawer tool chest, a full set of wrenches, an air compressor, and hydraulic rescue cutters (Jaws of Life ).

Anyone with information is asked notify the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at 417-451-8333.
A social media posting assured local residents that the District’s services will continue unimpeded:

“While this crime has reduced the equipment we need to provide life-saving rescues, we wish to assure our citizens that we have multiple sets of tools needed to handle rescues,” the posting said.
