Seif named Director of Aviation at KDOT

Ray Seif was recently named the Director of Aviation for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).

In his new role, Seif is looking forward to working with local airports across the state.

“It’s important to help airports improve their infrastructure and support the needs of the community,” Seif said. “I’m passionate about working with stakeholders to grow workforce development opportunities.”

Seif received a master’s in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is also a commercial, multi-instrument aircraft pilot.

Prior to his new position, Seif was the Manager at the Augusta Municipal Airport. Before that, he served as the Manager at the Jasper County Airport in Indiana. He wants to share his experience, which helped him find ways to stretch budget dollars and improve airport operations.

In addition, his enthusiasm for providing aviation educational opportunities and outreach grew during this time.

“I’m interested in growing aviation as a whole and reaching our next generation to help bring people into the industry,” he said.

In his free time, Seif is involved with finding ways to reduce homelessness and increase affordable housing.
