Highway patrol identifies fisherman who drowned in Stockton Lake

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the name of a man who drowned at Stockton Lake in Cedar County late Friday night.

He is 52-year-old Travis A. McCann of Miller, Mo.

The Patrol says McCann fell overboard and went under the water and never resurfaced.

McCann was not wearing a flotation device when he fell from the Seeark boat he was driving.

He had been on a fishing trip with two other men, both of whom were on shore at the time of the accident.

McCann’s body was recovered around 9:15 Saturday morning, according to MSHP Troop D Sergeant Mike McClure.

The death was Highway Patrol Troop D’s first drowning of 2024.
