Hawley bashes big tech for allowing AI to run rampant
Artificial intelligence is advancing at an alarming rate.
At Wednesday’s Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing, Missouri US Senator Josh Hawley grilled John Miller, the Senior Vice President of Policy, Trust, Data, and Technology and General Counsel at the Information Technology Industry Council, about AI.
“AI tells people to kill themselves – BUT maybe it will cure cancer! So we just have to live with it. This latest line from the tech industry is beyond absurd,” tweeted Hawley. “Watch the Big Tech spokesman talk about how important it is for Google and the rest *never* to be accountable in court – for anything. Chatbots are telling people to kill themselves and the tech lobbyists call it progress.”
