Water pipe ruptures in MSSU’s Hearnes Hall; damage to all three floors

Missouri Southern State University continues to deal with damage caused by the rupture of a water pipe in Hearnes Hall over the weekend.

The pipe burst on the third floor of the structure, damaging all three floors.

Hearnes Hall is the home to an extensive number of academic and administrative offices, including the President and Provost’s Offices, along with the Registrar, Admissions, Bursar, Student Success Center and several others.

University officials says the damage was not related to temperatures plummeting to below zero over the last few days.

Hearnes Hall, which opened in 1967, was one of the first buildings constructed on what came to be known as the campus oval.

It is named in honor of former Missouri Governor Warren E. Hearnes.
