Today is Martin Luther King Junior Day, a day to recognize a civil rights leader known for his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
Many federal, state, county and city offices are closed today.
Essential services such as law enforcement, some healthcare settings, and jails are still operating.
Banks and schools are likely closed for the holiday.
There is no regular mail delivery.
The Missouri Legislature is scheduled to get back to work Tuesday in Jefferson City. The holiday to recognize King was first observed nationally in 1986.
