MoDOT still grappling with worker shortage
The Missouri Department of Transportation has turned a corner when it comes to addressing staffing shortages, according to director Patrick McKenna.
He tells Newstalk KZRG, the approval of pay raises that can adjust with inflation has been a big help.
But there’s still a significant staffing shortage that includes snow plow drivers:
“We have approximately 500 vacancies department-wide right now and we’re also down in authorized positions over the last several years.”
McKenna says Mo-DOT will be asking lawmakers to create 350 more positions when they put together the state budget for Fiscal Year 2025, which begins in July.
Meanwhile, those interested in applying for snowplow and maintenance work can visit Mo-DOT.org and click on “careers.”
