Woman from Springfield who scammed charities and helped to kill mom will soon be released from Missouri prison
A woman from Springfied who scammed several charities and helped to kill her mom will soon be released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in northwest Missouri.
After serving eight-and-a-half years in prison, 32-year-old Gypsy Blanchard is scheduled to be a free woman next week.
Prosecutors say Blanchard told her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn of Wisconsin to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard in 2015.
Gypsy and her mother lied about Gypsy being disabled and wheelchair-bound to take advantage of charities.
Gypsy’s attorney, Mike Stanfield, said she was abused by her mother and that helped her get a plea deal of 10 years in prison.
She has since been the subject of numerous true-crime TV programs, including Dateline.
