New Police Chief’s swearing in slated for Monday morning
Public invited to welcome Richard Pearson to Joplin
Joplin’s new Police Chief Richard Pearson first day on the job is tomorrow!
His day will start with an official swearing-In ceremony for the new Chief, conducted by Joplin City Clerk Holly Nagy.
The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. in City Council Chambers of City Hall, 602 S. Main Street.
The public is invited to attend and welcome Joplin’s new Chief.
Pearson most recently served as Captain of the Jefferson County Public School System Police Department in Louisville, Kentucky.
He served 22 years in the Louisville Metro Police Department.
He also taught in the Criminal Justice Department of Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg, Indiana.
He holds a Master of Science and a bachelor’s degree in justice administration from the University of Louisville.
He graduated from the FBI’s National Police Academy in Quantico, VA, and the Southern Police Institute in Louisville.
He is currently finishing his Doctorate in Criminal Justice at Saint Leo University in St. Leo, Florida.
