Will state aid formula for Missouri’s K-12 public schools be fully funded in 2024?
K-12 education is expected to be a hot-button topic in Missouri’s next legislative session.
Representative Brad Pollitt, the chair of the House Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education, says he thinks the formula to fund public schools will be front and center… “We’re looking at 400 to $450 million to fully fund the formula over the next two years,” says Pollitt. “So there’s going to be a lot of discussion about that and whether the legislature decides to fully fund it. And if there is a fully funded formula, then are there going to be any choice options for parents to put into the mix or not?”
Pollitt says the formula is roughly eighteen years old and needs to be updated.
