Missouri House getting to work on the budget before the ’24 session begins 

Lawmakers in Jefferson City are getting an early jumpstart on the budget in advance of the 2024 legislative session beginning in January. 

Representative Greg Sharpe, a Republican from northeast Missouri’s Ewing, admits it’s unusual for budget hearings to be held in December.

And as for the state departments, he says they stand to benefit from the jumpstart as well.  

The budget deadline is near the end of session in early May, and the Legislative Session begins January 3rd, 2024.
